Spherical Turn on Bearing

Today at TRI, we successfully turned a large spherical surface (36″ diameter) on the saddle blocks of a journal bearing. We were able to hold a 0.001″ tolerance.

The key to this job is tool selection. The saddle blocks create an interrupted cut. Your tool needs to withstand the full final pass without breaking down.
